Syracuse’s series with Cardinals relocated to Louisville due to field conditions

Syracuse (12-14, 0-3 Atlantic Coast) will play three home games at Louisville (19-8, 8-1) this weekend after SU Softball Stadium’s field was deemed unplayable, SU Athletics announced in a release late Thursday morning.

SU’s doubleheader Tuesday with Canisius was also canceled due to poor field conditions. Although the Orange will compete as the home team, Saturday’s doubleheader will mark the 27th- and 28th-straight games Syracuse plays on the road to start the season.

“We just want to play ACC games,” SU head coach Leigh Ross said Wednesday evening. “I don’t mind. We have no problem going anywhere and playing, just get us there.”

Ross added that she is happy that Louisville will treat Syracuse like the home team.

The Cardinals are tied for first in the ACC and received two votes in the latest ESPN.com/USA Softball poll.

SU’s next scheduled home game is April 4 against ACC foe North Carolina (21-9, 6-2).
