School appoints John Prizner as assistant dean for advancement

John Prizner has been appointed assistant dean for advancement in Syracuse University’s Martin J. Whitman School of Management, according to a March 16 press release.

Prizner has more than 15 years of experience in major gift fundraising, business development, public relations and marketing to his new role as Whitman’s assistant dean for advancement.

In his new role, Prizner will be responsible for planning and directing a comprehensive fundraising program. Prizner will also work with representatives of Whitman and SU to secure philanthropic gifts, according to the release.

Before his appointment at SU, Prizner served as assistant dean of development for the University of Buffalo’s School of Management. While at UB, Prizner was named the Best Business First Recipient – an award for which he was nominated by his donors, colleagues and staff – by the 40 Under 40 Western NY, according to the release.

Prior to that position at UB, Prizner worked as a development officer at Canisius College, where he also earned his undergraduate degree. In 1998, Prizner obtained a master’s degree in public relations from SU’s S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications, according to the release.
