Syracuse hires Tammi Reiss as women’s basketball assistant coach

Syracuse hired Tammi Reiss as a women’s basketball assistant coach on Sunday afternoon, head coach Quentin Hillsman announced in a press release.

Reiss spent the last two seasons as the associate head coach at Cal State Fullerton. She served as the team’s recruiting coordinator and worked primarily with guards. Reiss also previously worked as an assistant coach with San Diego State, Virginia and the WNBA’s Utah Starzz.

Reiss was drafted by the Starzz in 1997 with the fifth overall pick and played professionally for two seasons.

“Tammi has played and coached at the highest levels,” Hillsman said in the release. “Her experience, work ethic and passion to develop athletes make her one of the top assistant coaches in the game at any level.”

In the past two weeks, assistant coaches Kelley Gibson and Sasha Palmer left SU to take the same position at Rutgers and Wisconsin, respectively.
