Syracuse awards scholarships to 3 players for 2015 season

Junior tight end Cameron MacPherson, sophomore kicker Cole Murphy and sophomore center Donnie Foster have been awarded scholarships for the upcoming season, Nate Mink of Syracuse.com reported on Monday.

MacPherson sat out last season due to transfer rules after spending his first two collegiate years at Georgetown. In his career with the Hoyas, he played four games at quarterback. He is the younger brother of Macky MacPherson, who played at Syracuse and was a 2013 team captain. Grandfather Dick MacPherson was SU’s head coach from 1981-90.

Murphy made 13-of-16 field goals last season and was a 2014 Lou Groza Award semifinalist, an award given to the top kicker in the country. He hit two field goals of 50 yards as well as ones from 41 and 49 yards. He’s listed as the first-string kicker on the preseason depth chart.

Foster didn’t play in any games in 2014.
